2024 Bullet Journal Tour

I have kept a bujo since 2018 and it rivals my husband for being the reason why I am where I am today. My journal, my spreads, and my practice with it has obviously changed a lot in six years. While it does act as my planner and organizes most of my life, I still make sure I have freedom and fun with it. Journaling is a hobby and creative outlet for me. I am particularly proud of my spreads this year, which I think I have finally broken down to the core ones I’ll actually use. This, paired with my new weekly planning reset, is how I hope to stay on top of things in 2024.

Let’s start with the tools I use, which I also try to keep simple. I use the basic-sized lined Moleskine in green. It does its job well, but I will say the pages do bleed sometimes and you always get impressions. Maybe one day I’ll get a notebook with thicker pages, but for now, I’m content. I decorated the cover with stickers from Redbubble which are very durable and they have thousands of designs from different artists. I have finally graduated from being a Pilot person and now use Sharpie S-Gel pens with (I believe) a 0.7mm tip for my main journaling and just in my life in general. The big game changer is they dry instantly, and I mean instantly. So now I can be more free with when and where I journal.

For colored pens I use Staedtler triplus fineliners, which I think I’ve had the same ones since 2018. For markers I use Artist’s Loft Watercolor Duel Tip Markers though I do have to be careful and not press too hard or they bleed. I use a variety of washi tape I’ve collected from different Etsy and stationary shops. My favorite place for sticker sheets is Jolla Co on Etsy, but my mom got me this cottagecore sticker book from Passion Planner that I am obsessed with. These are what I use most often though other useful things are a ruler, scissors and glue stick.

Now for the spreads. For my cover page this year, I decided to do a little visionboard collague which turned out really cute. Next is my word of the year, my priorities and my resolutions. The inspiration for the style of a lot of these spreads was I wanted to make them look more like Notion pages because I get a lot of cute setups coming up on my Pinterest. The other side is my year-ahead tarot spread which I wanted to make look like cards laid out and I am pretty pleased with it though I kinda ran out of room.

Next is my routine and on the other side are my non-negotiables and recharge lists and my weekly resets that I do Sunday and Monday. As you can see, I’m still filling these in and I like not having everything filled out because it gives me room to add and grow through the year. Then I have my weekly tasks, garden tasks (yet to be filled) and little full and new moon rituals for me to do and on the other side is just plans for our hobbit garden and things we need to do for it.

The next few are really just for reference, especially when I’m not near my calendar. Right now I have important dates, energy season, moon dates and ruler (Oak or Holly king) written here with space to add anything else I need reminded of. Originally I was going to put appointments and stuff like that, but I never used it last year so I’m just leaving it open.

Next is just a bunch of lists I wanted somewhere better to reference than my Notes app. I always need space in my bujo for random lists. The next pages are more of that. Last year, I was strugglingly a lot with finding stuff to eat for lunches plus never having the right snack when I needed it so I made a little menu page and brainstormed some different ideas. While it has helped a little so far, I need to get better at shopping for two options for the week and prepping stuff ahead of time. The other page is just another random list of just things I want to do more of in 2024. They are too small for resolutions and more just like reminders.

Now we are getting into my monthly and weekly spreads that I use daily. Last year, I started printing and cutting out images from Pinterest to make little moodboards to match my sticker sheet for the month. I have a quote, my monthly tarot card, three goals for the month, a list of little reminders, and a place to record “magic moments” or memories of the month. This year, I added a place to record media I’m currently consuming for fun. Then we have my weekly spread where I record my daily tarot card, daily to-do list and three things I am grateful for. I also have my mini habit tracker that I’m thinking of changing a bit, maybe just by filling it out at the start of the week instead of all at the start of the month. With both of these spreads, I want to start using the extra space, for notes, bits of junk, doodles, whatever I want just so I am using my journal more and having fun with it.

That’s about it for how I set up my bullet journal for 2024. I hope I inspired you to start your own because honestly, having this notebook recording my life is one of the best tools for completing my goals and just enjoying life.
