Best Books of 2024
This was an incredible year for books. Though I wouldn’t consider my reading routine consistent, I did read doubled the amount of books for my yearly goal, beating my previous record of most-read-books-in-a-year by 13, and not including three rereads. While I might still struggle to read everyday, I think I have found my joy in reading again and give myself grace because in the end, this is just a hobby, a hobby I love and shouldn’t feel pressure about. While I did get through a good portion of my physical TBR (and decided to take a few off of it), I also did add to it throughout 2024. This next year, I want to read most of my physical TBR and am challenging myself to read 50 books again.
I am also hosting, and participating in, my first readathon! From midnight, January 4th to midnight, January 5th, I will be attempting to read at least three books. I’ll be posting the TBR and Instagram post challenges on my profile this weekend, but you can have a sneak peek. I will be sharing the books I am reading for it real soon.
Here’s a glimpse of my current physical TBR

My Best Books of 2024:
1. Dark Heir by C.S. Pacat
This was my first read of the year and one of my most anticipated reads of 2023 and it fucking delivered. It was a rollercoaster of emotions that kept me on the edge of my seat until the final page. I filmed my reaction to the last 10 pages and I promise you, it was completely genuine. I do not know where this series is going to go and I am kind of scared for it, but I need to know.
2. San Andreas Shifters series by Gail Carriger
An amazing series surrounding a pack of (mostly) gay werewolves that took me right back to my Wattpad days in the best way possible. I thought it was just a trilogy, but was surprised with a fourth book that was probably the best one yet. I really hope there will be more because I love these characters and their stories so much.
3. The Sunshine Court by Nora Sakavic
The sudden release of another book in my all-time favorite book series threw me right back into my All for the Game series obsession. This book made me the happiest I have been and broke my heart repeatedly over and over and over again. I will not know peace until I read (and then reread and annotate) the next two installments. It also inspired me to reread the original three books, which I hadn’t read since 2017, and it was so worth it. I will never stop talking about these books.
4. You’re Not My King! by Eryn Hawk
New-to-me author this year and she does not miss. This was the first book I read by Eryn and my first alien romance which might have got me hooked. The story was so sweet and spicy and beautiful, featuring our MC overcoming his trauma as he bonds with his new alien husband. This series is a collaboration with Fae Quin and I can’t wait to see more of this universe.
5. Of Knights and Books and Falling in Love by Rita A. Rubin
This book was perfect, a warm mug of hot chocolate by the fire while it rains outside. It was short and sweet with so many of my favorite tropes. Truly the ideal cozy fantasy.
6. Mask Danshi: This Shouldn’t Lead to Love by Mitsuru Sangõ
I picked up a lot of manga this year and this was one of my favorites. A single volume featuring a prickly uke and a possessive seme that was so much spicer than I expected.
7. Fae Quin: Hunt Me! (I Crave the Chase), King of Hollywood, If Only In Our Dreams, I’m Not Your Pet!
This Queen does not quit. Four books coming out from August to December and each one a masterpiece. I adore Fae’s writing and every book brings such comfort. My favorite this year was probably If Only In Our Dreams, but King of Hollywood was a close second because I relate so much to Marshall.
8. Wind Breaker vol.1-8 by Satoru Nii
I watched this anime as it was coming out and a cliffhanger ending paired with the chokehold this series had on me caused me to pick up the manga which is just as good as the show. If you can’t wait for season 2, volume 6 picks the story right up.
9. The Dangerous Convenience Store vol.1-4 by 945
Originally a webtoon turned published book, this story is cute and heartfelt with a lot of spice. Volume 5 (I think the final) comes out in April and I will be so sad when this story ends. I am planning to pick up some digital webtoons in the New Year and am still on the hunt for physical copies of BJ Alex.
